Description
Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit
Location: Goldsboro, North Carolina
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provide competent clinical nursing care in a hospital setting, coordinating and delivering patient care using the nursing process. Responsible for patient assessment, care planning, implementation, evaluation, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver care to patients with complex problems, addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
- Perform bedside point of care testing as required.
- Organize and prioritize patient care based on patient and family needs.
- Assess readiness to learn and developmental level of patients and caregivers; use patient education materials appropriately.
- Collaborate with patients, families, and multidisciplinary resources to develop and update care plans.
- Participate in unit goals, performance improvement activities, and promote cost-effective care.
- Communicate effectively to ensure continuity of care and provide feedback to coworkers.
- Promote a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment.
- Recognize and synthesize complex assessment data to determine care priorities and anticipate discharge needs.
- Stay informed about public policy and regulatory guidelines affecting healthcare.
- Engage in professional growth activities and intra/interdepartmental collaboration.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU), including PCU experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Knowledge of NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited school of nursing
Preferred Qualifications
- BSN or MSN from an accredited school of nursing.
Additional Information
- Experience with patient education, assessment, care planning, and point of care testing is essential.
- Must be able to work night shifts.
