Registered Nurse (RN) - ICU

Location: Round Rock, Texas
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM

Job Summary

• Provide direct nursing care following established policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans; observe, record, and communicate patient conditions.
• Coordinate care among all disciplines to ensure well-coordinated patient care.
• Execute physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning with the healthcare team.
• Work requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work independently in a stressful environment.
• Follow Standard Precautions and use personal protective equipment as required.

Required Qualifications

Licensure / Certification

• Registered Nurse license from the Texas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire or transfer date.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification obtained within 6 months of hire or transfer (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification obtained within 1 month of hire or transfer (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).

Education

• Diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing OR required professional licensure at time of hire.

Experience

• Specialty: RN ICU
• Required years of experience: Not explicitly stated; assume standard ICU RN experience expected.

Onboarding and Compliance Requirements

• Completion of specialty competency exams with minimum passing scores (e.g., Ascension Specialty Exam, EKG Exam).
• Completion of core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics.
• Health and immunization requirements including:

  • MMR (two vaccines or positive titer, no declinations accepted)
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination (no declinations accepted)
  • Tdap vaccine valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
  • Influenza vaccine recommended during flu season (mask required if declined)
  • TB screening with 2-step PPD or IGRA and chest X-ray if positive
  • Fit testing for respiratory protection, updated annually
  • Statement of good health or physical exam prior to assignment, updated annually
• Drug screening: 12-panel drug test within 30 days prior to start, updated annually.
• Background checks including criminal, employment, and education verifications.
• Professional references: at least two required prior to first assignment.
• Driver’s license or state ID valid and matching address on file.

Additional Notes

• Must complete required onboarding modules and attestations prior to or at start of assignment.
• Ability to work night shift hours in a critical care environment.
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision and handle stressful situations.

This position is suitable for experienced ICU Registered Nurses licensed in Texas who meet the certification and health requirements and are prepared for a long-term night shift assignment.
