Radiation Therapist Travel/Contract Job in Columbus, Ohio


Position Details

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Location: Columbus, Ohio
  • Shift: Day shift, Monday to Friday, 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM
  • Hours: 8.5 hours per day with a 30-minute lunch break; 40 hours per week guaranteed
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Holiday Weeks: 10-hour shifts to maintain 40 hours
  • On-Call: No
  • Weekends: No
  • Dress Code: Scrubs (black pants, any top)
  • Onboarding Week: First week schedule is 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Radiation Therapist license in Ohio
  • ARRT Certification in Radiation Therapy Technology
  • Minimum of 1 year of Radiation Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)

Required Background and Compliance

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including SS trace, counties lived/worked, nationwide check, sex offender registry, and motor vehicle record if driving is involved
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start, with specific Ohio codes for processing
  • Education verification from accredited programs required
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 3 months of start (no pending tests allowed)
  • Professional references: 2 required, including at least 1 from a manager or formal leadership
  • Employment application and skills checklist required

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer (medical exemptions require documentation)
    • Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
  • Annual flu vaccination or declination (mask required if declined during flu season)
  • Fit mask test required annually for inpatient/patient-facing roles (must be valid for entire assignment)
  • COVID-19 vaccination is recommended but not required

Competency and Training Requirements

  • Unit-specific competency exams required
  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required prior to start
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required annually for all RNs (not applicable here but noted for reference)
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required annually
  • Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
  • Background check and license verifications must be completed within 30 days of start

Additional Notes

  • No return to office (RTO) required in June or July
  • No weekend or on-call shifts
  • Candidates must review and sign dress code and hand hygiene policies
  • Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending at start
  • Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and documentation requirements

This position is ideal for Radiation Therapists with experience on Varian systems seeking a weekday day-shift travel contract in Ohio with no weekend or on-call duties.
