RN - Labor Delivery Recovery Postpartum
Location: Goldsboro, North Carolina
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provide competent clinical nursing care in a hospital setting, coordinating and delivering patient care using the nursing process. Responsible for patient assessment, care planning, implementation, evaluation, and interdisciplinary communication. Promote a safe, clean, and secure environment while supporting patient and family education and advocacy.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess patient/family readiness and developmental level for education; use relevant patient education materials.
- Identify expected patient outcomes and participate in revising plans of care as needed.
- Deliver care to patients with complex problems, including physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
- Perform bedside point of care testing as required.
- Organize and prioritize care based on patient/family needs.
- Consult appropriate resources for complex care issues, teaching needs, and discharge planning.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to evaluate and plan patient care.
- Participate in unit goals, performance improvement, and cost-effective care initiatives.
- Develop professional growth goals and participate in intra/interdepartmental collaboration.
- Recognize and synthesize complex assessment data to determine care priorities.
- Address cultural and ethnic considerations in care planning.
- Develop relationships with families to support patient advocacy.
- Stay informed on relevant research and contribute ideas for practice improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience.
- Licensed Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
- Nursing Diploma, ADN, or ASN from an accredited school of nursing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers (AHA or ARC).
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (AHA or ARC).
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Ability to circulate for C-sections.
- Ability to triage obstetric patients.
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience highly preferred.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited school.
