Description

Registered Nurse – Emergency Room

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 11:00 AM – 11:30 PM


Job Summary

  • Provide safe, efficient, age-specific nursing care using the nursing process to help patients and families attain and maintain optimal health.
  • Deliver relationship-based nursing care with effective communication and collaboration to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Utilize technical skills and a variety of clinical equipment (e.g., stethoscopes, thermometers, electronic monitors) to meet patient needs.
  • Handle Protected Health Information (PHI) as part of regular duties.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio.
  • Minimum of 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Required Certifications and Health Requirements

  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (as applicable), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
  • Immunizations and Health Screenings:
    • MMR: Positive titers within last 15 years or appropriate booster schedule.
    • Varicella: Positive titers within last 15 years or appropriate booster schedule.
    • Tdap: Vaccination within the last 10 years (no declinations accepted).
    • Hepatitis B: Proof of full series, partial series with declination, or positive titers within 15 years.
    • Tuberculosis: 2-step PPD or IGRA test with negative results within last 6 months; if positive, clear chest X-ray and current TB questionnaire required.
    • Fit Test for N95 respirators completed within 1 year prior to start and updated annually.
    • Physical exam within 1 year prior to start confirming ability to work without restrictions.
  • Optional but Preferred: COVID-19 vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption.
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (October–March) or mask-wearing with specific declination forms.

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Professional license and certification primary source verification within 30 days of start; re-verified every 2 years with license renewal.
  • Criminal background check within 6 months of start, including Social Security trace, county searches, national sex offender registry, and OIG exclusion check.
  • Ohio fingerprinting and FBI background checks as applicable based on residency duration.
  • Employment verification for the past 5 years through third-party verification.
  • Education verification through third-party; international education requires equivalency documentation.
  • Drug screen within 60 days prior to start (10-panel, lab report required; instant screens not accepted).
  • Completion of safety and compliance training modules prior to clearance; annual renewal required.
  • Skills checklist, competency exam (minimum 80% score), and core competencies exam (minimum 80% score) completed within 1 year prior to start.
  • Valid non-expired photo ID (driver’s license or state ID).
  • Submission packet includes resume, 2 professional references (within last 2 years), job application, and employment history form.
  • Badge photo (headshot, shoulders up, plain background) required.
