Registered Nurse – ER Holding (Night Shift)
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Patient Age Groups: Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
- Staffing Ratio: 1 nurse to 4 patients
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience (highest requirement)
- Telemetry and Dysrhythmia Management
- PCU/Stepdown Care
- IV Insulin & Heparin Protocols
- Renal Failure Management
- Cardiac & Vasoactive Drips (including titration)
- Blood Product Administration
- Tracheostomy Management
- Rapid Response Team Utilization
- Wound Care/Wound Vac
- Non-Invasive Airway Management (CPAP/BIPAP, Oxygen)
- EPIC Documentation
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA only (Instructor/Provider and RQI acceptable)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA only
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA only
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification (if applicable per unit)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam – required within 1 year of start and updated annually
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam – required prior to start
- Unit-Specific Competency Exam
Licensure
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Ohio
- NURSYS verification required
Background & Screening Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific code 3701.881)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monthly monitoring
- Education accreditation verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
- Employment application and skills checklist required
- 2 professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leadership)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year, with annual TB questionnaire
- Tdap vaccine (adult dose after age 11/12)
- Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
- Varicella immunity (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- MMR immunity (2 vaccines or positive titer for Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 – 3/31)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending drug screens allowed)
- Fit mask test annually (required for inpatient/patient-facing roles starting 7/13/2026 and beyond)
- COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended
Additional Facility Requirements
- Confidential Fraud, Waste, Abuse, and Compliance Reporting training and acknowledgment
- Dress code and hand hygiene policy acknowledgment
- Ethics and compliance policies review and annual acknowledgment
- Background acknowledgment form for subcontractors
- Pending background check attestation if fingerprint results are pending
Parking

Requirements / Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience
- ED nursing experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown Care experience
- IV Insulin and Heparin Protocols knowledge and experience
- Renal Failure Management experience
- Experience with Cardiac and Vasoactive Drips, including titration
- Blood Product Administration experience
- Tracheostomy Management experience
- Utilization of Rapid Response Team protocols
