Surgery Tech Position

Location

  • Billings, Montana

Employment Type

  • Clinical, Non-Nursing (Peak periods)

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Work Schedule

  • Variable shifts, typically 12 hours per day, approximately 36 hours per week
  • May require working nights and/or weekends
  • May require being on-call during scheduled shifts

Job Summary

  • Perform scrub duties and maintain sterile supplies and sterile technique
  • Assist in nursing care and preparation of surgical patients
  • Assemble, organize, and complete case carts according to surgeon preferences
  • Provide appropriate instrumentation, sutures, and supplies during procedures
  • Maintain a sterile environment and assist the surgeon by passing instruments
  • Count sponges, needles, blades, and instruments following established policies
  • Assist in specimen care and preparation for laboratory analysis
  • Handle specimens, implants, dressings, soiled instruments, contaminated materials, and sharps according to policy and standards
  • Assist with timely room turnover, including cleaning, restocking, and equipment care
  • Support surgical operations safety plans and initiatives
  • May float to other departments within scope of competency and qualifications

Required Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED or completion of a non-accredited surgical technology program within the past six months

Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association

Experience & Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist
  • Surgical Technologist experience within the last year
  • Experience in supervisory roles within surgical services

However Rachel at Host is my Recruiter and has done an incredible job of cutting through the red tape and doing a lot of hand holding through the initial process. She has made my experience so pleasant. I could've gotten more money elsewhere but i am staying right here. Rachel is available all of the time!!! I am very grateful.
