Registered Nurse - IV Therapy (Outpatient Infusion)
Location: South Portland, Maine
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Monday – Friday, 7:45 AM – 4:30 PM
Hours per Week: 40 guaranteed
Weekend Hours: None
Call Requirements: None
Job Description
- Provide nursing care in an outpatient infusion center (not vascular access).
- Administer chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments in an outpatient setting.
- Care for patients receiving various infusion therapies with patient ratios ranging from 1:7 to 1:9.
- Manage peripheral IVs, central lines, medication administration, and blood transfusions.
- Work with IV pumps and document care using Epic EMR.
- Serve an average daily census of 46 patients across 21 infusion chairs.
- Collaborate as a team member with a focus on quality, patient-centered care.
- Must be flexible, reliable, self-initiated, and able to adjust priorities throughout the day.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Maine.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum 2 years of PICC experience, including experience within the last year.
- Experience in an outpatient setting.
- Infusion therapy experience.
- ONS or ONCC Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- ONS Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Provider Card (preferred but not required).
Unit Information
- Outpatient infusion therapy specialty.
- No float requirements.
- Dress code excludes hospital-issued scrubs; any other scrubs are acceptable.
- Professional attire required; hospital-issued scrubs and unprofessional attire are not allowed.
Additional Notes
- This role does not involve vascular access procedures.
- Emphasis on teamwork, communication, and patient safety.
