Job Opportunity: RN Oncology

Location: Wichita, Kansas
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM


Job Description

Registered Nurse specializing in Oncology providing patient care during the night shift.


Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Kansas
  • Minimum of 2 years Oncology experience, including experience within the last year
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • MOAB Moderate Risk De-Escalation Training
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Valid Driver's License

Onboarding and Compliance Requirements

  • Submission of professional credentials including resume/profile and at least two professional references prior to assignment.
  • Signed assignment agreement required before onboarding.
  • Completion of onboarding education attestation and nursing contract worker onboarding modules.
  • Passing score (minimum 80%) on Ascension Core Competencies and EKG Exam (updated every 3 years).
  • Completion of Cerner test-out and training checklist with signed attestation.
  • Ascension Badge Photo (front-facing headshot with white or blue background, no alterations).

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Proof of immunizations and health screenings:
    • Two MMR vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted).
    • Two Varicella vaccines, serological immunity, or documented history (no declinations accepted).
    • Tdap vaccine valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted).
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination.
    • Influenza vaccine recommended during flu season (exemptions accepted with mask requirement).
  • Tuberculosis screening:
    • 2-step PPD or negative IGRA within required timeframes.
    • If positive, chest X-ray within one year and annual TB questionnaire.
  • Fit test for respiratory protection (preferred before start, can be completed onsite).
  • Annual 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start and updated annually.

Additional Documentation and Verifications

  • Driver’s license or state ID (valid, matching address requirements).
  • Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and others within 90 days of assignment start.
  • Employment verification for the past seven years.
  • Education verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start.
  • Health statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.
  • Annual skills checklist for clinical specialty.

Optional

  • Unit-specific checklist (optional for onboarding but may be required by unit leader within one week).
  • Hiring manager evaluation and legal name change documentation (post-assignment or as needed).

This position requires adherence to strict credentialing, health, and compliance standards to ensure patient safety and quality care in an oncology nursing role during night shifts.
