Registered Nurse - Med Surg

Location

• Athens, Tennessee

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Unit and Patient Population

• Medical/Surgical unit
• Trauma Level 3 facility
• Adult and Geriatric patients only (no pediatrics)
• Max patient load currently 18, aiming to increase to 24
• Patient ratio: 6:1
• Common diagnoses: Pneumonia, CVA, CP, post-surgical care, electrolyte imbalances, DVT

Work Schedule

• 36 hours per week guaranteed
• 23 weekend hours per week
• No call requirements
• Orientation occurs bi-weekly on Mondays

Required Certifications and Licenses

• Current Registered Nurse license valid in Tennessee
• BLS certification required prior to start
• Must be cleared through the Tennessee Abuse Registry before assignment start

Experience

• Minimum 1 year of experience in Med/Surg nursing

Skills and Preferences

• Critical care thinking preferred
• Ability to work well with others; team-oriented environment

Equipment and Systems

• Experience with bladder scanners, glucometers, and similar equipment
• Electronic Health Record system: Medhost

Additional Information

• No float requirements
• Dress code: scrubs of any color; casual wear is not acceptable

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
• Minimum of 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
