Registered Nurse – Digestive Health Procedures
Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Shift: Day
Hours: 9 hours/day, 36 hours/week
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care to a group of patients within the Digestive Health specialty. Responsibilities include patient assessment, planning and implementing nursing care, monitoring patients during procedures, and assisting anesthesia providers as needed. The RN ensures patient and staff safety, maintains accurate documentation, and collaborates with the healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform initial patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care.
- Prepare patients for digestive health procedures, including starting IVs and providing education.
- Monitor and sedate patients during procedures.
- Provide care for patients in both phase 1 and phase 2 recovery.
- Assist Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) during anesthesia cases.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
- Identify and address safety hazards and incidents.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and provide constructive feedback.
- Fulfill all departmental competency requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
- Minimum of 3 years of gastroenterology nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Education: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
