Description
Registered Nurse - Emergency Department
Location: Hickory, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Work in a 32-bed Emergency Department that handles all traumas (no formal trauma level designation).
- Patient population ranges from birth to death.
- Fast-paced environment requiring stamina and critical care thinking.
- Patient ratios typically 1:4 or 1:5.
- Use of critical care equipment and Cerner EHR system.
- Shift: 7 PM to 7 AM, 36 hours per week.
- Weekend hours rotate every other weekend.
- Call requirements vary depending on census.
- Float to other areas as needed based on competencies.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
- Certifications required: ACLS, PALS or ENPC, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), BLS, and CPI
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Strong patient experience skills with patients and families
- Ability to work in a fast-paced ED environment with experience in stroke, STEMI, and trauma care preferred
Additional Information
- Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify as travel.
- Dress code: scrubs of any color allowed; hoodies and inappropriate t-shirts are not acceptable.
- Orientation start dates are scheduled periodically throughout the year.
