Job Opportunity: RN Transfer Center Coordinator

Location: West Burlington, Iowa
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)


Job Summary

  • Coordinate the safe, timely, and efficient transfer of patients between and within healthcare facilities.
  • Serve as the central communication point among referring facilities, physicians, nursing leadership, bed management, and ancillary departments.
  • Ensure appropriate patient placement based on clinical needs, bed availability, and organizational capabilities.
  • Maintain compliance with regulations and detailed records for quality assurance.
  • Previous experience with Epic within the last 12 months is required.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa.
  • Minimum of 4 years of case management experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Experience with patient transport.
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Required Credentials & Compliance (Must be completed prior to or at onboarding)

  • Professional license verification (Primary source verification within 30 days of start).
  • Signed Epic Registration Acknowledgement Form.
  • Background check including SS trace and county search for last 7 years.
  • State-mandated Adult and Child Abuse clearance.
  • Education verification through third party or combined with diploma/transcripts.
  • Drug screen (9-panel, excludes THC) within 30 days of start.
  • Skills checklist completed within last 12 months.
  • Various federal and state compliance checks (EPLS/GSA/SAM, OFAC, NSO).
  • I-9 attestation on agency letterhead.
  • Driver’s license or state ID current and valid throughout assignment.
  • Professional references: 2 required, including 1 supervisor reference.
  • Health-related requirements:
    • COVID-19 vaccine (declination accepted).
    • Influenza vaccine or facility declination (seasonal, due by Dec 1).
    • MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted if equivocal).
    • Hepatitis B (2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted if equivocal).
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted if equivocal).
    • Tdap valid within 10 years (declination accepted).
    • TB test proof of negative within past year or documentation if positive history.
    • Fit test for approved respirators completed prior to start.
    • Physician health statement within last 12 months.
    • OSHA questionnaire completed by candidate.
    • Color vision screening.

Additional Information

  • Night shift hours are from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
  • The role requires strong communication and coordination skills.
  • The position is critical for patient flow and bed management within the healthcare system.

This position is ideal for an experienced RN with recent Epic experience who is comfortable working night shifts and coordinating complex patient transfers.
