Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Location: Allentown, Pennsylvania
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (4 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 48
Job Description
- Provide respiratory and neuro diagnostic care with a focus on adult critical care and emergency department patients.
- Utilize specialized equipment including Hamilton G5, PB 980, Respironics V60, Optiflow, Lumis tx, Cough Assist, Vest, and IPV.
- No on-call duties.
- Scrub color: Dark Grey.
- Return-to-Office (RTO) requests require facility approval.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Pennsylvania.
- Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year.
- Experience working with adult patients.
- Certifications required:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Comprehensive background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years, including:
- SSN Trace
- County, State, Nationwide Criminal Search
- Sex Offender Search
- Education Verification
- Pennsylvania PATCH (state police) search
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire.
- Pennsylvania Department of Human Services fingerprint results required within 90 days of start.
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse Search required within 90 days of start.
- Pennsylvania Medicheck Search required within 30 days of start.
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel or 9-panel (without THC) within 60 days of start.
- Physical exam within 2 months of start.
- Fit test questionnaire and respirator medical clearance required.
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or vaccination)
- Hepatitis B (positive antibody titer or completed vaccine series)
- Varicella (positive titer or vaccination)
- COVID-19 vaccination or signed declination with facility-specific form
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption/declination with facility-specific form
- References: Minimum 2 professional references from employment within 12 months of start.
- Employment application with 7 years of complete work history and explanations for gaps over 90 days.
Competency and Testing Requirements
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required for all RNs and LVNs except certain specialties; applicable here for respiratory staff as per unit requirements.
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required.
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required within 12 months of start.
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required.
- National certification verification prior to facility start and upon expiration.
Additional Notes
- Local pay rate is $5 less than standard (not included here per instructions).
- Background checks and health documents must be current and uploaded as required.
- Candidate must comply with all facility-specific documentation and credentialing processes prior to start.
- No on-call responsibilities.
- Facility approval required for any Return-to-Office requests.
