Job Opportunity: CVOR Registered Nurse

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work shifts include a combination of 2 eight-hour and 2 twelve-hour shifts, scheduled between 6:30 AM and 11:00 PM, including call hours.
  • Call hours start at 7:00 PM on weekdays and include weekend call divided into 12-hour blocks, distributed equitably among staff on a 4-week rotation.
  • Flexibility in scheduling is required to meet unit needs.
  • Charting system used: EPIC.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio.
  • Minimum 1 year of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience within the last year.
  • Experience in an Acute Care setting.
  • Transplant nursing experience.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Required Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

Licensure

  • License verification required within 30 days of start.
  • NURSYS verification required for RN license.

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting with specific Ohio codes.
  • Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending at start.
  • Education verification: Graduate of an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA).
  • Employment application and skills checklist required.
  • Two professional references required; at least one must be from a manager or formal leadership.

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease.
  • Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 1 year or TB questionnaire annually.
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required:
    • Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
    • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola, Mumps, and Rubella
    • Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer (medical exemption requires documentation)
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (new travelers cannot start with pending drug screen).
  • Annual fit mask testing required for inpatient/patient-facing roles starting 7/13/2026; onsite fit testing available if needed.

Competency Requirements

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required prior to start.
  • Unit-specific competency exams required.
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (with remediation process if failed).

Additional Information

  • Parking permits available for purchase with various options (costs subject to change).
  • Dress code and hand hygiene policy acknowledgment required.
  • Confidential Fraud, Waste, and Abuse compliance training and reporting form required.
  • Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually.
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required annually.

This position is ideal for experienced CVOR RNs with strong cardiac and trauma backgrounds who are flexible with shifts and call responsibilities.
