Description
Job Opportunity: Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse (Night Shift)

Schedule
- Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- No on-call required
- Estimated patient ratio: 1:1 to 1:2
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience (highest stated requirement)
- Prior travel nursing experience is preferred but not required
Required Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA only (Instructor/Provider and RQI acceptable)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – AHA only (Instructor/Provider and RQI acceptable)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS) – must meet facility-specific CE hour requirements
- All certifications must be current and meet facility standards
Required Skills and Competencies
- Proficient in IV starts
- Experience with telemetry monitoring
- Competency with ventilators
- Proficiency in EPIC electronic documentation system (required)
- Completion of medication/pharmacology competency exam prior to start
- Unit-specific competency exams required
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (minimum passing score 76%)
License Requirements
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Ohio
- License verification required within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification required for RNs
Background and Screening Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including:
- Social Security trace
- Counties lived/worked
- Nationwide search
- Sex offender registry
- Motor Vehicle Record (if driving is part of the job)
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start using specific code (3701.881)
- Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending at start
- Education accreditation verification required for nursing degree from accredited programs (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
- Employment application and skills checklist required
- Two professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leadership)
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 1 year or chest x-ray if positive
- Annual TB questionnaire in lieu of annual TB test renewal
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine (adult dose after age 11/12)
- 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, and Rubella
- Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (signed declination acceptable)
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; medical exemptions require documentation
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, methadone, methaqualone, opiates, PCP, propoxyphene)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31); decliners must wear a mask
- COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended
Additional Requirements
- Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement
- Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
- Dress code and hand hygiene policy review and signature required for contracts signed 5/19/25 and beyond
- Ethics and compliance policies must be reviewed and acknowledged annually for new contracts signed 11/7/24 and beyond
- Fit mask testing required annually for inpatient/patient-facing roles starting 7/13/26; onsite fit testing available if needed
Parking
- Various parking permit options available for agency staff (costs and details subject to change)
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) experience, with CVICU experience within the last year
- Coronary Care Unit (CCU) experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Competency with ventilators
- Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system
