Description
Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (Travel/Contract)
Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks (with possible extension)
Shift: Nights, 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts (weekdays and weekends)
Hours per Week: 48 hours
Job Details
- Unit: 5S MedSurg
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5-7
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system: Cerner
- Scrubs: Not provided
- Blocked schedule: Unit will try to accommodate schedule requests but cannot guarantee
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in West Virginia
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in a hospital setting
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Completion of continuing education units (CEUs)
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (must be carried during hours of service)
- Proof of E-Verify or attestation
- Background checks including:
- 7-year criminal history check (covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (updated every contract renewal)
- Education verification and RN license verification (license must be current and verifiable within 2 days of submission)
- Skills checklist updated annually, specific to specialty
- Minimum 2 clinical or manager/charge nurse references within the past year
- Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands (initial and annual updates)
- Drug screening: 10-panel within 30 days of start and updated annually
- Immunizations and health requirements:
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD within 1 year or equivalent IGRA test within 2 years)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years, preferred)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (titer within 2 years or 2 vaccines at least 28 days apart)
- Hepatitis B (titer within 2 years, 3-series vaccine, or declination)
- Varicella (titer within 2 years or 2 vaccines at least 28 days apart)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
- COVID vaccine or declination required
- Completion of facility-specific learning modules including Cerner EMR training prior to start
- ReadySet (RS) health assessment surveys completed by facility’s deadline
- Color blindness testing and competency exams as applicable
- Signed confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements prior to start
- Attendance expectation: Maximum 2-3 call-offs allowed during contract
Additional Notes
- Candidates must have all required certifications and documentation on file prior to start; no pending certifications allowed
- Proof of completion of stroke education CEUs (8 hours annually) is required for this unit
- Photo for badge must be submitted prior to clearance
- Workers compensation documentation is preferred but not required
- Point of Care Technician application required only for Cath Lab RNs (not applicable here)
