Registered Nurse – PCU (Travel/Contract)

Location: Camden, New Jersey
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 36

Job Description

• Must submit Return to Office (RTO) documentation at time of submission; late submissions not accepted.
• Block scheduling is NOT allowed.
• Required to float within 5 hospitals within skillset.
• Unit cares for a mix of Medical-Surgical (MS) and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) patients.
• May float to ICU for PCU patients who have been downgraded.
• Patient ratio is 1:4.
• Epic experience preferred.
• First-time travelers accepted but not preferred.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey.
• Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including PCU experience within the last year.
• Neuro and neurology nursing experience required.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Certifications required:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required.
• Proof of E-Verify or attestation required.
• Background checks including:

  • 7-year criminal check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
• Education verification (diploma or transcript acceptable).
• NURSYS verification for RN license.
• Physical exam within last 12 months.
• Fit mask test must be completed onsite within first week of assignment; religious exemption form available with alternate PAPR testing.
• Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 1 year; chest x-ray and annual TB questionnaire if positive history.
• Required immunizations or positive titers:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer or declination accepted)
  • Varicella
• Drug screen: 10-panel drug test without THC panel within 6 months, updated annually.
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required by October 31; documentation must include detailed vaccine info.
• Visual acuity exam (20/40 or better).
• Latex questionnaire required.
• Two professional references within last 2 years.
• Employment application and skills checklist (updated annually).
• Work history verification required for at least 1 year prior to start date (NJ state mandate).

Additional Notes

• Candidates must complete facility-specific documents including badge photo by specified deadlines.
• Floating among multiple hospital locations is mandatory based on needs.
• Patient care includes MS, PCU, and occasional ICU patients.
• Dysrhythmia test is critical and failure to comply results in contract termination.
• Local candidates (within 50 miles) receive a different rate (not disclosed here).

This position is ideal for experienced Neuro RNs comfortable with floating and working night shifts in a fast-paced, multi-unit hospital environment.
