Registered Nurse (ICU) - Travel Assignment
Location: Florence, Alabama
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit & Work Environment
- Unit: Critical Care Services (2nd Floor)
- Home Unit: Critical Care Unit (CCU) with float to CVICU, Critical Care Step-Down (CCSD), and Med-Surg as needed
- Trauma Level: 3
- Number of Openings: 1
- Shift: 7 PM – 7 AM
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours
- Weekend Hours: Every other weekend
- Call Requirements: None
- Patient Population: Adult and Geriatric
- Patient Ratios:
- CCU: 1:2 or 1:3
- CVICU: 1:2 or 1:3
- CCSD: 1:4 or 1:5
- Med-Surg: 1:6

Equipment & Technology
- SpaceLabs bedside monitoring (continuous ECG, O2, Respiratory, BP, CVP, PA monitoring)
- Baxter/Spectrum IV pumps
- Kangaroo feeding pumps
- Hill-Rom critical care beds
- Variety of ventilators
- Prismaflex CRRT machines
- Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps (IABP)
- Blanketrols, Arctic Sun, Rapid-Transfusion, Fluid warming, Zoll monitoring
- Electronic Health Record: Meditech (clinical access for ICU patients)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alabama
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Critical Care Float experience, including experience within the last year
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), Moderate Sedation/Analgesia, and iStat
- Proficient in management of critical care drips and titrations
- Skilled in ventilator management and chest tube care
- Experience with central venous line placement, including large-volume vascular catheters
- Ability to assist with conscious sedation
- Prior ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience required
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience in a teaching hospital with resident physicians
- Experience in high-acuity ICU settings managing advanced devices such as CRRT, IABP, arterial sheath pulls
- Experience in SICU, MICU, CVICU, Neuro ICU, and PCU/Med-Surg

- Septic shock
- GI bleeds and post-operative GI disorders
- CABG and vascular procedures
Additional Information
- Float Requirements: May float between CCU, CVICU overflow, CCSD, and Med-Surg departments depending on staffing needs
- Communication: Use of smartphone app for physician communication
- Dress Code: Royal blue scrub pants required; neutral or facility-logo solid t-shirts, sweatshirts, and vests allowed
- Personality Fit: Team player with excellent communication skills; able to function effectively in critical situations
Summary
This is a 13-week travel RN position in a Level 3 trauma critical care unit requiring at least 5 years of critical care experience. The role involves working night shifts with a focus on adult and geriatric patients in a high-acuity environment. The nurse will float across multiple critical care units and med-surg as needed, managing complex equipment and patient care scenarios. Required certifications include ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS. Prior travel experience is not specified as required.
