Description

Registered Nurse (RN) – Intermediate Care

Location: Bloomington, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Schedule: Rotating nights, weekends, and holidays; included in holiday and weekend rotation


Unit Overview

  • Inpatient acute care, 32 beds (all private rooms)
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:3-4
  • Unit cares for patients with a wide range of medical conditions including COPD, CHF, Diabetes, sepsis, renal issues, DKA, alcohol withdrawal, overdoses, pneumonia, respiratory conditions, neuro/surgical/cardiac patients
  • Procedures and equipment include care for patients with Bipap, Cpap, tracheostomies, chest tubes, NG tubes, PICC lines, central lines, ablation/cath lab patients, dialysis
  • EMR system: EPIC
  • Medication dispensing system: Pyxis
  • Dress code: Scrubs, any color

Required Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Must be able to read telemetries and be comfortable managing chest tubes
  • Extensive ICU experience preferred for floating to ICU; otherwise, float to general medical floors
  • Orientation: 2 days total (1 day with education team, 1 day floor orientation)

Additional Information

  • Travel RNs are the first to float and will take assignments appropriate to their level of care experience
  • Typical patient assignments: ICU (2 patients), General Medical floors (5-6 patients)
