    Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

    Location

    • San Francisco, California

    Job Summary

    • Provide therapeutic, diagnostic, and emergency respiratory care.
    • Assess, treat, and evaluate patients with respiratory insufficiencies or abnormalities.
    • Work across adult services including Emergency Room, Code Blue, general floors, and ICU.
    • Implement patient care plans based on physician orders and clinical judgment.
    • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.

    Contract Length

    • 13 weeks

    Shift Details

    • Night shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
    • One weekend required per month
    • No on-call requirements

    Required Qualifications

    • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in California
    • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Respiratory Therapist within the last year
    • Certifications:
      • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
      • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
      • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
      • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

    Background and Compliance Requirements

    • 7-year background check within 6 months of start, including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening.
    • Annual updates required for EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and FACIS screenings.
    • Employment application must include full 7 years of work history with no gaps.
    • Work history verification required for up to 7 years; gaps over 30 days must be explained.
    • References: 2 professional references required within 3 years for clinical positions.

    Health and Immunization Requirements

    • Physical exam within 1 year of start (must clear candidate for work)
    • Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (specific mask types required)
    • TB screening questionnaire within 90 days of start, renewed annually
    • Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT within 90 days) or 2-step PPD as per protocol, renewed annually
    • Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:
      • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
      • Measles (Rubeola)
      • Mumps
      • Rubella
      • Hepatitis B (series or declination)
      • Varicella
    • Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30) or signed declination
    • Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law)

    Additional Requirements

    • Completion and signing of facility-specific documents including:
      • Job description acknowledgment
      • Standards of Business Conduct
      • Code of Conduct
      • Vendor training
      • Conditional offer of employment attestation
      • TB questionnaire
      • Religious accommodation forms if applicable
    • Competency exams as applicable (medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG)
    • EKG pass/fail testing may be required onsite after start for ICU and telemetry nurses (note: may not apply to RRT but listed for awareness)

    This position offers a travel contract opportunity for experienced Registered Respiratory Therapists licensed in California, with a focus on adult respiratory care across multiple hospital settings during night shifts.
