Registered Nurse (NICU) - Urbana, Illinois
Job Summary
Provide professional nursing care to neonatal patients in a NICU setting, managing a patient group during assigned shifts. Utilize nursing processes, current trends, technology, and resources to deliver high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform all unit-specific nursing duties within scope of practice.
- Conduct initial patient assessments upon admission and develop individualized care plans.
- Implement and modify nursing interventions and care plans based on ongoing patient evaluation.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
- Monitor neonatal patient intake and output.
- Assist mothers with breastfeeding initiation and provide baby-friendly care.
- Administer medications using proper bar code scanning.
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and communicate patient status.
- Promote patient and staff safety by identifying and reporting hazards.
- Provide constructive feedback to peers and engage in professional development.
- Fulfill all departmental competency requirements.
Work Schedule
- Shift: Day
- Hours: 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
- Weekly Hours: 36
Contract Length
- Approximately 17 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- Minimum 1 year of recent NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
