Description
Registered Nurse (Labor & Delivery)
Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Shift: Night (7:30 PM – 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provide professional nursing care to a group of patients using the nursing process, current nursing trends, technology, and resources. Responsible for patient assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation within the philosophy of the institution.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform all unit-specific nursing duties within scope of service.
- Complete initial patient assessments and develop individualized care plans based on patient and family needs.
- Implement and modify nursing interventions and patient care procedures as needed.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care for healthcare team use.
- Monitor fetal well-being and participate in intrapartum care including labor, delivery, and surgical delivery.
- Administer medications specific to obstetric patients.
- Provide patient education tailored to the obstetric population.
- Promote patient and employee safety by identifying and reporting hazards.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and provide constructive feedback to support professional development.
- Identify personal learning needs and pursue appropriate solutions.
- Fulfill all departmental competency requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification
- NRP certification
- Relevant nursing experience in Labor and Delivery
Additional Information
- Work primarily with inpatient obstetric patients.
- Night shift, 12-hour shifts.
