Description
Operating Room Registered Nurse – Columbus, Ohio (Travel/Contract)
Position Overview
- Work in an 18-bed Level 1 Trauma Operating Room.
- Surgical specialties include General, Robotic, Laparoscopic, Trauma, Orthopedic, Neurosurgery, Spine, Ophthalmology, ENT, Plastics, Burns, Urology, GYN, and Transplant surgeries.
- Variable shifts: days/evenings with 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts.
- Night shift example: 4 shifts of 10 hours (5:00 PM – 11:30 PM).
- Call required Monday-Friday from 9:00 PM to 6:30 AM; weekend and holiday coverage may be required.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care during surgical procedures.
- Circulate primarily in Orthopedic, Neurosurgery, Spine, and General Surgery cases.
- Collaborate closely with the surgical team.
- Maintain patient records using EPIC electronic health record system.
Contract Length
- Approximately 13 weeks.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio.
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year.
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system.
- Education: Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification.
Preferred Experience
- Additional experience in ENT, Genitourinary (GU), Plastics, and Burns surgeries.
Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA provider or instructor accepted.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit.
- Other certifications (PALS, NRP, EFM) as applicable to specific units.
- Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgment.
- Stroke education and NIH Stroke Certification may be required depending on unit assignment.
- Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and annually.
- State license verification and NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start.
Additional Requirements
- Employment application and skills checklist required.
- Education must be from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA).
- Background checks and fingerprinting must be completed and cleared prior to start.
- Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending at start.
- Compliance with dress code and hand hygiene policies.
- Confidential Fraud Waste Abuse and Compliance Reporting acknowledgment required.
