Operating Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Hurricane, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 5x8 hour shifts, 6:50 AM – 3:20 PM
• On-call requirement: Minimum 1-2 call shifts per week and one weekend call per month
• Patient ratio: 1 RN to 1 or 2 Surgical Techs
• Guaranteed hours: 32-40 hours per week
• Floating: Not required to float outside scope
• Local radius: Candidates within 100 miles accepted
• Orientation: Held every other Friday; 2-day orientation covering Cerner Infusion Management and other facility-specific training

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in West Virginia
• Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience within the last year
• ACLS certification
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Valid Driver’s License
• Orthopedics experience

Additional Requirements

• Must complete facility-specific documents including dress code, blood administration policy, time and attendance, medical release, vaccination exemption forms if applicable, and state liability/time gap forms
• Must complete required inservice training modules (approx. 4 hours) prior to start, including specialty-specific content and pass/fail testing
• Stroke education CEUs may be required depending on unit assignment
• Candidates cannot have worked permanently at this facility within the last 2 years and then return as travelers
• Drug screen and background checks must be current and compliant with facility standards
• Candidates must provide a valid driver’s license and social security card (or proof of SSN request)

Important Notes

• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Prior travel experience is required (implied by first-timers not accepted)
• Flu vaccine refusal without approved medical documentation will disqualify candidate during flu season
• Candidate must be able to pass all required competency exams and certifications before starting
• PAPR accommodations available if unable to pass fit testing due to facial hair or face shape
