Registered Nurse – Family Maternity Services

Location: Olney, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 20 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12-13 hours each)
Hours per Week: 36 hours

Job Description

• Provide professional nursing care for patients in labor, delivery, postpartum, Nursery Level I and II, antepartum, and gynecology according to established standards.
• Perform initial patient assessments and develop, implement, and modify individualized plans of care.
• Conduct fetal heart monitoring (external/internal) and vaginal exams, assessing position, dilation, and station.
• Administer and monitor toxolytic agents for antepartum patients.
• Serve as circulating nurse during vaginal deliveries.
• Assist with patient transfers to other facilities as needed.
• Educate patients on peri-care, breast care, diet, and post-delivery/surgical activity.
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure patient and staff safety by reporting hazards and incidents.
• Provide supervision, orientation, and training to staff members as assigned.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members and provide constructive feedback to peers.
• Recognize normal and abnormal conditions in the patient population and report concerns to physicians.
• Perform comfort measures and fulfill departmental competency requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience in Labor Delivery Recovery & Postpartum (LDRP)
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Perigen and EPIC electronic medical record systems.

Additional Information

• Work primarily in a rural OB/GYN department providing comprehensive maternity care.
• Night shift schedule with 3 twelve-hour shifts per week.
