Job Summary

The ICU staff nurse is a Registered Nurse responsible for providing nursing care to patients receiving therapies in the ICU, supervising nursing assistants, and supporting the nurse manager. The role includes patient assessment, care planning, implementation of nursing interventions, documentation, safety monitoring, communication with patients and families, and collaboration with the care team.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete initial patient assessments and develop care plans based on patient and family needs
• Implement and evaluate nursing interventions and patient care procedures
• Maintain accurate nursing documentation
• Support patient and staff safety by reporting or correcting hazards and incidents
• Communicate directly and privately when needed to resolve issues
• Provide constructive feedback and support peer development
• Use critical thinking and nursing judgment to respond to changes in patient status
• Assist with ventilated patients for early mobility
• Assist with intubation, central line insertions, and arterial line insertion and care
• Delegate patient care tasks and validate completion

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• ICU - Intensive Care Unit (1 year of experience)
• ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience within the last year
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• ACLS
• PALS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Preferred Qualifications

• BSN
