Job Opportunity: Speech Therapist I (Travel/Contract)

Location: Covington, Georgia

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (40 hours/week)
Work Setting: Home Health (patient visits in patients' homes)

Job Description

• Provide speech therapy services primarily in patients' homes.
• Average caseload: 5-6 patients per day, with 30 productivity points expected weekly.
• Types of cases include Start of Care and Follow Ups.
• Travel required: up to 75 miles from home clinic, with daily travel of 30-40 miles between patients. Reliable transportation and current driver’s license required.
• Use of EMR systems: HomeCare HomeBase, Oasis, Outlook.
• No on-call requirement.
• Local candidates accepted.
• No option for hire at end of contract; this is a true contract assignment.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Speech Language Pathologist license in Georgia.
• Minimum of 1 year of recent experience as a Speech Language Pathologist, including experience within the last year.
• Experience in a Home Health setting.
• Completion of at least one travel assignment.
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Valid driver’s license.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Valid driver’s license/state ID.
• Background checks covering the last 7 years, including SS trace, county, nationwide, sex offender, and state-specific searches.
• Drug screening: 10-panel drug test required.
• Health documents:

  • Physical exam within 12 months confirming good health and no communicable diseases.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (no pending results at start).
  • Immunizations or titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
  • Flu vaccination or documented declination for current season.
  • COVID vaccination series or documented declination.
• Education verification for relevant degree.
• Work history verification for at least two most recent employers or last 7 years.
• Two professional references required.

Additional Requirements

• Must review and sign various compliance, confidentiality, privacy, and policy documents prior to start and annually if working consecutively over one year.
• Must have personal or auto insurance policy under candidate’s name or list candidate as a driver (required for home health placements).
• Willingness to discuss weekend requirements during interview, as these may vary by location.

Notes

• Productivity expectations are based on a point system that accounts for visits, documentation, and travel.
• If patient census is low, contractor may be floated to a nearby clinic to pick up hours.
• Some territories may have alternative shift schedules (e.g., 4x10s Friday-Monday), but most are standard 5x8 Monday-Friday.
