Description
Job Opportunity: PCU Registered Nurse (Neuro/PCU)
Location: Lancaster, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse – Neuro/Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Shift: Night shift, either 3 or 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 4-5 patients
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: Not required
- Floating: Must float within scope to like units or sister facilities as needed
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks
- Call Out Policy: More than 2 call outs without documented medical reason may lead to contract cancellation
- Schedule Flexibility: Required to meet unit needs; block schedule accommodation possible but not guaranteed
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in South Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, with at least 1 year within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Includes SSN trace, state and national criminal checks, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
- Work History Verification: Not required for this facility
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Employment Application: Complete application/resume required
- Skills Checklist: Must be updated annually
- Physical Exam: Initial physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Immunizations & Health:
- Tdap within 10 years or declination form
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start or appropriate follow-up if positive
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer
- Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination form
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31) or medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
- COVID vaccines highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form
- Radiation Badge: Not required for this position
- Orientation & Facility Specific Documents:
- Completion of orientation modules (approx. 2 hours) prior to start
- Submission of a clear, passport-style photo for badge
- Signed agreements including assignment acknowledgment, confidentiality, code of conduct, HR policies, and safety codes
- Upload vaccination records (COVID, flu) into facility system

This position is ideal for experienced Neuro/PCU RNs with prior travel contract experience who are licensed in South Carolina and meet the certification and health requirements. Night shift availability and flexibility to float are essential.
