Registered Nurse — Emergency Room

Location

• Auburn, Nebraska

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Shift

• Nights, 12-hour shifts
• 36 hours per week

Unit Overview

• Emergency Room with 2 trauma bays and 2 clinic rooms
• Average of 12 patients treated per day
• No fast track, separate triage area, holding area, or psych/seclusion rooms
• Security is not in-house 24/7
• Mid-level support or PA is always available
• RT is available during the day on weekdays; after hours, paramedics handle vents and BiPAP
• Lab is in-house 24/7
• X-ray/CT is nearby and typically in-house most hours

Required Qualifications

• RN license
• BLS certification

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS
• PALS
• TNCC

Experience

• Experience in similar hospital settings
• First-time travelers are accepted

Patient Care / Clinical Details

• Common cases include urgent care-type visits, strokes, MI, and trauma/MVCs
• Common drips include insulin, pain management, and TPA
• RN is responsible for drips and other care
• RN monitors their own telemetry
• RN may draw labs from IV starts

Scheduling and Coverage

• Weekend coverage is every other or every third weekend, depending on the contract
• Holiday coverage fills holiday gaps
• No call or standby requirement
• Floating to Medical-Surgical may be required during a shift

Orientation

• 1 full day in the business office, IT, and resources
• 2 twelve-hour orientation shifts: 1 in ER and 1 in MS, then independent

Dress Code

• Scrubs are not provided
• Any scrub color is allowed, but no hospital logos or prints
