Description

NICU Registered Nurse

Overview

  • Location: East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania
  • Employment type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Night, 3x12 hours
  • Hours per week: 36
  • Contract length: 13 weeks
  • Unit: Level III NICU

Schedule

  • Shift hours: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
  • On-call: None
  • Holiday requirement: One summer holiday, one winter holiday eve, and one winter holiday night
  • Floating: No floating
  • Scheduling note: Block scheduling cannot be accommodated

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Pennsylvania
  • NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care (1 year of experience)
  • NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care experience within the last year
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NRP
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Clinical Focus

  • Care for infants as early as 34 weeks gestation
  • Ventilator management
  • Bubble CPAP, HFNC, and Vapotherm
  • ETT/NT suctioning and chest tube management
  • Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Arterial line, central line, UAC, and UVC care
  • IV starts, blood product administration, IV vasopressors, and phlebotomy
  • Bottle, breast, and gavage feedings
  • OG/NG/NJ tube placement and management
  • Breastfeeding support and breast milk handling
  • APGAR scoring, developmental care, and thermoregulation
  • Sepsis workup, isolation precautions, NAS, lumbar puncture assistance, blood glucose monitoring, hyperbilirubinemia, and phototherapy
  • Surfactants, steroids, neonatal dosage calculations, antibiotics/antivirals, and anti-seizure medications

Unit Details

  • 8-bed Level III NICU
  • In-house neonatologist available 24/7
  • Neonatologist and NICU RN attend high-risk deliveries

Additional Notes

  • Scrubs provided
  • Planned time off must not interfere with pre-start compliance completion
  • Local candidates within 50 miles may have a reduced local rate
