ICU RN

Location

  • Tulsa, Oklahoma

Contract

  • 13 weeks
  • Nights
  • 36 hours per week
  • 12-hour shifts

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license
  • ACLS
  • BLS
  • NIHSS
  • 3 years of ICU experience
  • Recent hospital acute care experience in the specialty area
  • EPIC experience within the last year
  • No first-time travelers in ICU

Schedule / Work Expectations

  • 6 weekend shifts every 6-week schedule block
  • Holidays are worked at manager discretion; no holiday RTO is approved
  • No call or standby requirement
  • Travelers float first
  • May be assigned up to 5 patients when floating
  • Titration of drips is required

Unit Details

  • 23-bed ICU
  • Typical nurse-to-patient ratio ranges from 1:1 to 1:3 depending on acuity
  • Mixed medical-surgical and thoracic/cardiovascular ICU population
  • Common patient needs include respiratory failure, ARDS, CHF, COPD, post-STEMI, post-arrest, post-surgical, CABG, carotid, DKA, GI bleed, overdose, ETOH withdrawal, CVA with or without TNK, and renal failure
  • Nurses may care for IABP, Impella, CRRT, or open-heart recovery patients if competency is verified
  • Dedicated ICU internal medicine team available 24/7
  • Respiratory therapy available 24/7
  • Nurses are responsible for EKG monitoring and interpretation
  • Nurses are expected to draw their own labs and perform EKGs

Orientation

  • 8 hours of non-billable orientation
  • Two unit orientation shifts
  • Pre-start modules are required before the first day

Additional Notes

  • Black scrubs required
  • Zero tolerance for license or background hits
  • Must provide DOB and SSN
  • One supervisor reference from the most recent or current assignment is required
  • Must disclose any prior work at the facility
  • Clock in and out at the facility
