ICU Registered Nurse

Location: Tulsa, Oklahoma
Contract length: 16 weeks
Shift: Days, 12 hours
Hours: 36 per week
Setting: Teaching facility

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• 3 years of recent ICU experience
• Recent hospital acute care experience in the specialty area
• EPIC experience within the last year
• No first-time travelers in ICU
• One supervisor reference from the most recent or current assignment
• DOB and SSN required for submission

Unit Details

• 23-bed ICU
• Patient ratio ranges from 1:1 to 1:3 depending on acuity
• Mixed medical-surgical and thoracic/cardiovascular ICU
• No trauma, hemorrhagic strokes, or neuro surgery
• Nurses may care for patients requiring IABP, Impella, CRRT, or open-heart recovery if competency is verified
• Nurses titrate drips
• Charge nurse has no patient assignment
• RT is in the ICU 24/7
• No monitor techs; nurses handle EKG monitoring and strip placement
• Travelers float first and may be assigned a patient team of up to 5 patients

Schedule and Expectations

• Minimum of 6 weekend shifts in each 6-week block
• Holidays are worked at manager discretion; no holiday RTO is approved
• No call or standby requirement
• Two orientation shifts
• Black scrubs required
• Staff must clock in and out at the facility

Additional Notes

• Zero tolerance for license or background hits
• First schedule period may include gap coverage to balance short shifts
• No guaranteed set schedule or 3 shifts in a row
• Nurses are expected to draw labs and perform EKGs
• PIV attempts are expected before contacting the VAD team for assistance
