Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Montana
• Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association

Role Overview

• Provides advanced-level respiratory care to diagnose, evaluate, treat, manage, and control cardiopulmonary deficiencies and abnormalities
• Acts as a resource to CRT staff
• May handle special clinical projects or assignments based on department needs

Key Responsibilities

• Performs, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic testing procedures
• Obtains arterial gases
• Oversees and troubleshoots equipment
• Initiates respiratory protocols and interventions based on assessments
• Administers medications safely and on time
• Communicates patient progress to staff, physicians, and other departments
• Monitors patient condition and makes care recommendations
• Educates patients and families on health promotion, wellness, and self-care
• Documents care and productivity information
• Monitors supplies and equipment
• Participates in quality, patient safety, improvement, and research activities
• Mentors and supports staff development

Additional Notes

• May float to other departments within scope of competency and qualifications
• May be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift
