Contract Length

Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts
• Every other weekend
• Holidays rotate
• No call or standby

Unit Overview

• Acute care medical unit with 29 beds
• Typical patient census is 22–26
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 4–5:1 on days and 5–6:1 on nights
• Common patients include GI bleed, sepsis, cellulitis, CHF, COVID, comfort measures, osteomyelitis, falls, DVT, and pulmonary embolism
• Patients may leave for surgery or procedures and return to the unit

Responsibilities

• Titrate heparin drips
• Attempt IV starts and use unit resources if unsuccessful
• Float to other med/surg-like units as needed

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS certification
• Must be able to produce a negative drug screen
• Must provide the last four digits of SSN
• Must provide middle initial
• Must provide requested time off

Additional Details

• Local placements within 50 miles are accepted
• Travel nurses are first to float
• No ICU assignments
• Does not take care of chemo patients
• 2 shifts of orientation
• Staff provide their own scrubs
• 24-hour charge RN coverage
• 24-hour crisis RN coverage
• 24-hour PCT coverage
• Remote telemetry monitoring is used for patients who require telemetry
• No vents on the unit
• Oxygen needs may go up to 6L nasal cannula
• Stable BiPAP/CPAP may be used at night or as needed
