Description

OB Acute RN

Location

  • Peoria, Illinois

Contract Length

  • 15 weeks

Schedule

  • 12-hour night shifts
  • Shift as assigned
  • Every 3rd weekend
  • Every other holiday
  • No call requirement

Unit / Setting

  • OB Acute/Post Partum RN
  • 9 LDR procedure rooms
  • 2 OR suites for C-sections
  • 1 PACU
  • 6 L&D triage rooms
  • 18-bed antepartum unit
  • 36 postpartum private rooms

Required Qualifications

  • Active IL license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
  • BLS
  • NRP
  • Required assessments
  • Care of the post-partum patient
  • Must be able to titrate drips
  • Must be able to work with insulin or heparin titration orders
  • Must produce a negative drug screen for all panels

Preferred

  • ACLS
  • Lactation education/support experience
  • Level 2 Nursery experience

Clinical Details

  • Common patients: postpartum moms and newborn infants
  • AWHONN ratio: 1 to 3
  • Charge RN is on duty 24/7
  • PCTs assist primarily with adult patients
  • Labor hospitalist is in house 24/7
  • Newborn hospitalists are in house daily, with NICU coverage at night for emergencies
  • RNs are not required to read or interpret telemetry strips
  • Home CPAP or BiPAP may need to be handled if the patient has it

Floating

  • May float within the Family Birthing Center
  • May float to Behavioral Health
  • May float to Women’s Care Unit
  • May float to L&D to assist in recoveries, general support, and sitter patients if AWHONN monitor trained

Orientation

  • 2 full 12-hour shifts on OB Acute
  • 1 day in L&D
  • 1 day in WCU
