RN Rapid Response

Overview

• Travel RN role in Critical Care/Intensive Care
• Location: Florence, Alabama
• Shift: 7P-7A
• Weekly hours: 36
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
• Call: None
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Orientations: Monday orientations
• Trauma level: 3

Unit / Float Scope

• Home unit: CCU
• Float scope: Critical Care Unit, CVICU overflow, Critical Care Step-Down, Med-Surg
• If needed, the RN floats first to CVICU or CCSD

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Alabama
• Critical Care Float experience within the last year
• 2 years of Critical Care Float experience
• ACLS
• BLS
• NIHSS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• IV starts and blood draws
• NG tube placements
• ECG rhythm interpretation
• Lab and ABG interpretation
• Critical care drips and titrations
• Management of ventilators
• Management of arterial lines
• Management of chest tubes
• Management of Central Venous lines, including Large-Volume Vas Caths
• Assisting physicians with bedside procedures and conscious sedation

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in a teaching hospital with resident physicians
• Experience in a high-acuity ICU managing CRRT, IABP, Arterial Sheath pulls, and other devices
• Prior experience in SICU, MICU, CVICU, Neuro ICU, and PCU/Med-surg

Unit Details

• Critical Care Services on the 2nd floor
• Beds: CCU 22, CVICU 14, CCSD 31
• Patient ratios: CCU 1:2 to 1:3; CVICU 1:2 to 1:3; CCSD 1:4 to 1:5; Med-surg 1:6
• Patient population: Adult, Geriatric

Clinical Context

• Common diagnoses/treatments include Respiratory Failure, Ischemic and Hemorrhagic strokes, STEMI/NSTEMI, Cardiogenic shock, Septic Shock, GI Bleeds, Post-operative GI disorders, CABGs, and Vascular procedures

Additional Notes

• Must always wear royal blue scrub pants
• T-shirts, sweatshirts, and vests are allowed if neutral colored and solid or if an NAMC logo is present
