PICU RN with CVPICU Exposure/Experience

Overview

• Travel/Contract RN role in Seattle, Washington.
• Pediatric ICU assignment with CVPICU exposure/experience required; candidates should have experience in both PICU and CVPICU settings, with CVPICU experience allowed to be less.
• Shift is rotating days/nights or straight nights, 3x12 hours.
• Ratios are 1:1 or 1:2.
• First-timers are accepted.
• Locals are accepted.
• Guaranteed hours are offered.
• The assignment length is 15 weeks.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Washington.
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
• 2 years of PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care experience.
• PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care experience within the last year.
• Experience with CVPICU - Cardiovascular Pediatric Intensive Care.
• Experience caring for open chest patients.
• Experience with central line management.
• Experience with ventilator management.
• Experience with arterial lines.
• Experience with immediate post-operative care.
• BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association.
• PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support issued by American Heart Association.
• E-Verify.
• Transcript/diploma.
• Peds competency exam with a required score of 80%.
• Peds skills checklist.
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam.
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam.
• Background check and required background screening items.
• Physical exam within 1 year.
• Fit test valid for the full initial assignment length.
• Negative TB or chest X-ray.
• TB questionnaire.
• Tdap.
• Measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, and hepatitis B immunity/vaccination documentation.
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 1 year.
• Flu vaccine or declination during flu season.
• Respirator medical clearance if the clinician will use a respirator.
• Photo for badge.
• Facility modules prior to start.

Preferred

• Potential for precepting.

Float Scope

• Will complete one orientation shift in the CICU to float during the assignment.
• May also float to acute care and NICU as needed.

Scheduling Notes

• No RTO within the first 2 weeks of start.
• Only one week of RTO can be approved.
• RTO on weekends after the holidays is restricted.
• Traveler must work 2 of the 3 holiday groupings.
• Weekend requirement is 6 weekends for a 13-week assignment, with more weekends required for longer assignments.
• Scheduling weeks run Monday through Sunday.
• Travelers are scheduled by the schedulers and do not self-schedule.
• The only shifts guaranteed off are those pre-approved in the contract.
• Night shift travelers may be scheduled for the night before RTO starts.

• Teaching, Magnet, and Level I Trauma designation.
• 407 staffed beds.
• EPIC charting.
