RN - Endoscopy Center

Overview

• Location: Champaign, Illinois
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Day
• Hours: 36 per week, 9 hours per day
• Schedule: 4–9 hour day shifts with rotating start times, typically between 0630 and 0800
• Float requirement: Between the Endoscopy Center and Digestive Health Department

Role Summary

• Registered Nurse providing care for patients undergoing endoscopy procedures, including prep, intra-procedure, and recovery phases for routine GI procedures such as colonoscopy and upper endoscopy
• Provides direct patient care, rotates through phases of care, and delivers moderate sedation under physician direction
• Assists the CRNA during cases requiring anesthesia involvement

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Endoscopy experience with at least 2 years of experience
• Endoscopy experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• BLS issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS issued by the American Heart Association
• Moderate sedation

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for procedures
• Complete assessments, review health history, start IVs, and provide patient education
• Monitor and sedate patients during procedures
• Care for patients in phase 1 and phase 2 recovery
• Document nursing care accurately
• Develop and update plans of care based on patient needs and ongoing evaluation
• Report or correct safety hazards and incidents
• Delegate appropriately to unlicensed personnel
