Respiratory Therapist II - Pediatrics

Location

• Chapel Hill, North Carolina

Schedule

• Days, 36 hours per week
• 13-week contract
• May be required to be on-call days, nights, weekends, and holidays

Required Qualifications

• Valid Pediatric Respiratory Therapist license in North Carolina
• 2 years of Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience
• Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
• Respiratory Therapist experience
• Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
• Current certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)
• Must have at least one of the following depending upon practice area: ACLS, NRP, PALS, CPFT, or an advanced practice certificate to administer moderate sedation in Bronchoscopy Lab
• ECMO management experience
• Pulmonary Function Testing experience
• Tracheostomy care experience
• Endotracheal intubations and extubations experience
• Specialized ventilator modes experience
• Advanced practice procedures including UAC, UVC, IV insertion, chest tube insertion, needle decompression, and ABGs
• All certifications must be maintained as required by the certifying body

Role Overview

• Provides respiratory care for pediatric patients, including airway management, mechanical ventilator management, oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, respiratory care procedures, and treatments
• May perform pulmonary function testing as needed
• May transport pediatric and neonatal patients from referral hospitals per protocol
• May perform advanced practice procedures per protocol, including UAC, UVC, IV insertion, chest tube insertion, needle decompression, ABGs, and blood glucose monitoring
• May manage ECMO for cardiac and respiratory support of patients
• Functions independently with minimal supervision and serves as a resource to other staff
