Respiratory Therapist / Respiratory Care
Overview
- Travel/Contract role in Baltimore, Maryland
- Night shift: 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
- 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend required
- No float requirement indicated
- Local candidates accepted
- No on-call requirement
- First-time travelers accepted
- Contract length: 14 weeks
Unit / Patient Population
- Respiratory Therapist position supporting adult and geriatric patients
- Supports Adult Critical Care and Emergency Department populations
- Works closely with Rapid Response Teams and provides respiratory support throughout the hospital
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Maryland
- Registered Respiratory Therapist with 3 years of experience
- Registered Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- Experience working with adult patients
- Experience working with geriatric patients
- Experience in a critical care setting
- Experience in an emergency department setting
- Airway management including extubation, intubation assistance, suctioning, and tracheostomy care
- Experience caring for patients with ARDS, aspiration, pneumonia, and fresh tracheostomies
- Experience with bronchoscopy support and sputum specimen collection
- Ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, SIMV, pressure-alarm troubleshooting, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
- Chest physiotherapy
- Ability to interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs)
Preferred Qualifications
- RRT preferred
- CRT candidates with 5 years of experience may be considered
Equipment / Clinical Systems
- BiPAP
- CPAP
- Mechanical ventilators
- High-flow oxygen and other oxygen-delivery systems
- Nebulizer and aerosol medication-delivery systems
- Cerner
Scheduling Notes
- Up to 2 pre-approved time-off requests are permitted per contract
- The system auto-approves 14 days or less of RTO
- Every other winter and summer holiday are required, and no RTO is approved
- No RTO on hard-to-fill days such as Easter, Mother’s Day, and Father’s Day
