IMCU - 3S Intermediate Care RN
Location

Unit
- IMCU - 3S Intermediate Care
- 23 beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:3-4
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit (1 year of experience)
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- NIHSS
- Experience with tracheostomy care
- Experience with BiPAP
- Experience with neuro checks
- Experience with titratable drips
- Experience with cardiac drips
- Experience with IV insertion skills
Schedule
- Nights
- 12-hour shifts: 7a-7:30p and 7p-7:30a
- Weekend rotation dependent on unit needs
- Every other holiday
- No call or standby requirement
Float Scope
- Expected to float throughout the house other than ER and OB
Unit Details
- Common patient types include stroke, cardiac, sepsis, and surgical
- Common titratable or set-rate drips include heparin, nitro, cardizem, levo, cardene, and precedex
- Charge nurse is present 24/7 and ideally does not take patients, but will when necessary
- CNAs are utilized, usually 8-23 patients each
- CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow are used on the unit
- Monitor techs observe rhythms and rates; nurses interpret strips
Orientation
- 1-2 shifts
- 12-hour nights
Additional Notes
- Scrubs are not provided
- Negative drug screen required for all panels
- Last four digits of SSN, middle initial, and requested time off are required for submission
