Emergency Room RN

Overview

• 13-week travel assignment in Bristol, Connecticut.
• 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week.
• Evenings.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Connecticut.
• ED - Emergency Department (1 year of experience).
• ED - Emergency Department experience within the last year.
• BLS.
• ACLS.
• PALS.
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.

Preferred

• Some travel nursing experience.

Unit Details

• 25 beds/trauma bays.
• Fast Track: Yes.
• Separate triage area: Yes.
• Separate psych/seclusion rooms: Yes.
• ER holds are managed in the same area.
• Average volume: 100 patients per day.
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4-1:5.
• Common diagnoses: all.
• Common drips: all critical ED drips.
• ED physician/mid-level coverage: both.
• Charge nurse takes an assignment: both.
• Support staff: techs and sitters.
• EMR: Meditech.
• RT does ABGs, breathing treatments, and EGSs; ED RNs do breathing treatments.
• Telemetry is present; no monitor techs, and the charge nurse monitors strips.
• X-ray/CT transport is right outside the ER.
• Nurses draw labs.
• Travelers do not float.
• Call/standby: no.
• Scrub color/dress code: navy blue.
• Orientation: 1 day hospital orientation plus 3 days on the floor with an RN.
• Open to weekends-only shift if wanted.
