Emergency Room RN

Overview

• 13-week travel assignment in Bristol, Connecticut
• 12-hour night shifts
• Open to weekends-only shift if wanted

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Connecticut
• ED - Emergency Department (1 year of experience)
• ED - Emergency Department experience within the last year
• ACLS
• BLS
• PALS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Preferred

• Some travel nursing experience

Unit Details

• 25 beds/trauma bays
• Fast Track: Yes
• Separate triage area: Yes
• Separate psych/seclusion rooms: Yes
• ER holds are managed in the same area
• Security is in-house 24/7 and housed in the ER
• Average volume: 100 patients per day
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4-1:5
• Common patient types: all
• Common drips: all critical ED drips
• ED physician and mid-level coverage: both
• Charge nurse takes an assignment
• Techs and sitters support the unit
• RT does ABGs, breathing treatments, EGSs
• Nurses draw labs
• Telemetry is present; no monitor techs, charge nurse monitors strips
• X-ray or CT transport is right outside the ER

Scheduling

• Schedule is given, with requests taken
• Usual traveler shifts: 11a-11p, 3p-3a, and 7p-7a
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend
• Holiday requirement: every other holiday
• No call or standby requirement
• Travelers do not float

Orientation

• Hospital orientation for 1 day
• 3 days on the floor with an RN

Dress Code

• Navy blue scrubs
