Overview

Orientation

• Orientation is held biweekly on Monday or Tuesday, with start upon clearance.
• Candidates must be available to attend scheduled orientation. Other start dates cannot be accommodated.
• Scheduled orientation dates: October 13 and 26; November 9 and 16; December 7, 14, and 28.
• Candidates must be 60 miles or greater from the facility to be considered for travel.

Requirements

• Valid RN license in Massachusetts
• Graduate of an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing, or Nursing Diploma program
• BLS/BCLS certification
• Behavioral Health experience: minimum one year of experience in the specialty, with experience within the last year
• Experience in an inpatient psychiatric setting
• Must be willing to work with both adults and pediatric patients
• All travelers must have required certifications prior to start. The client may require certifications not listed.

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS certification

Unit Information

• Beds: 104 across five units (Adult, Child, and Geriatric)
• Patient population: Ages 5 to 17 (pediatric, 12 beds), adults (2 units, 24 beds each), and geriatric (24 beds)
• Patient ratio: 1:8, variable (lower for geriatric and pediatric patients)
• Common diagnoses: Schizophrenia, depression, bipolar disorder, substance use disorder, anxiety
• Personality fit: Professional

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver direct and indirect patient care through the nursing process (assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation)
• Develop nursing care plans in coordination with patients, families, and interdisciplinary staff
• Communicate changes in patient clinical condition to physicians, nursing supervisors/managers, and co-workers
• Participate in discharge planning
