RN PACU
Employment type: Travel Location: Wilson, NC (45 miles east of Raleigh; about 1 hour from Duke, NC State, UNC Chapel Hill, and East Carolina University) Contract length: 13 weeks Hours per week: 36 Openings: 1 Start dates: 11/9, 11/13, 12/7 Orientation: Bi-weekly
Unit Details
- Unit: Post Anesthesia Recovery
- Trauma level: None
- Beds: 8 + 1 isolation room
- Patient ratios: Per ASPAN standards; can be 1:1, 1:2, or 2:1
- Patient population: All except neonates
- Common diagnoses/treatment: Post-op surgical patients, typically general anesthesia
- Equipment: Cardiac monitors, IV equipment, SCDs, nasal O2, Omni Cell, blanket warmer
Schedule
- Shift: 0700-1800, with start times rotating among staff
- Weekly guaranteed hours: 40
- Weekend hours: Call, typically 1 per week and every 3-4 weekends
- Schedule flexibility: Must be willing to work 8x5 and 4x10 as needed
- Float: Not required, but may be asked to help in other surgical services areas if needed and available
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Post Anesthesia Care (PACU) experience: 2 years
- Post Anesthesia Care (PACU) experience within the last year
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
Other Notes
- Candidates must live 60 miles or more from the facility to be considered for travel.
- Expected to comply with the HR dress code policy; no inappropriate or revealing clothing.
- Personality fit: pleasant, positive, and a team player.
