Med Tele RN

Assignment Overview

• Location: Kankakee, Illinois
• Unit: Med Tele RN, 31 beds
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Days, 12-hour shifts (5-5), 36 hours per week
• Weekends: Every other weekend
• Holidays: Every other holiday
• On-Call/Standby: None
• Orientation: 1 12-hour shift
• Scrub Color: Caribbean

Required Qualifications

• BLS certification
• Valid driver's license (required for submission to be considered)
• Illinois RN license in hand

Preferred Qualifications

• Travel experience

Local Placement

• Local placements are accepted. Candidates must live within 20 miles of the facility.

Unit Details

• Patient Ratio: 1:5-6
• Nurse Aide Ratio: 1:10-12
• Common Diagnoses: CHF, strokes, chest pain, DM, PN, COPD, detox, underlying cardiac conditions, and cath lab recoveries
• Experience Noted: Radial band and femoral cath recoveries
• Titration: RNs are not required to titrate drips. Common titratable or set-rate drips include Lasix, heparin, Bumex, Protonix, and octreotide.
• Telemetry: RNs read telemetry. A centralized tele tech helps monitor.
• Charge Nurse: Team lead during the day, does not take patients. On nights, weekends, and holidays, the charge nurse takes patients.
• Respiratory Equipment: CPAP/BiPAP, intermittent use only
• Floating: Medical floors and step-down units to take telemetry-level patients

Process

• The facility requires a clinical prescreen.
• If recommended, the hiring manager has 24 hours to accept or decline the candidate.
• No second phone interview is required.
