Registered Nurse (RN), Med Surg/Telemetry (Days), Windsor, VT

Overview

• Employment type: Temporary
• Location: Windsor, Vermont
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Days, 12 hours per day
• Unit focus: Med Surg, with float to Acute Rehab and other units within scope
• Facility: 35-bed critical access community hospital with 25 inpatient medical-surgical beds and a 10-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit. The hospital also has a therapeutic pool, a physical therapy department, and acute care, transitional care, and hospice services.
• Patient load: Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 to 1:5, with an average daily census of 22
• Orientation: 8 hours, non-billable

Responsibilities

• May be asked to work as a backup Charge Nurse
• Coordinates total nursing care for patients
• Participates in patient and family teaching
• Provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing and other patient care team members to maintain professional nursing practice standards

Required Qualifications

• Valid Vermont RN license or compact license, uploaded with the profile
• 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
• Rehabilitation experience
• Charge RN experience (not negotiable)
• 3 months or more of total travel experience
• Active BLS issued by the American Heart Association
• Active ACLS issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing

Schedule, Float, and Holiday Expectations

• Traveler must be willing to float to any unit within their scope of practice, including Acute Rehab and Med Surg.
• Call is required. Do not submit a traveler who will not take call.
• Block scheduling will not be considered. A 48-hour guarantee is not available.
• Travelers may not take all holidays off. If scheduled or needed, travelers must work two of the following blocks:

  • Thanksgiving Day/Friday after and the weekend after
  • Christmas Eve through Christmas Day and the weekend after
  • New Year's Eve through New Year's Day and the weekend after
• Requested time off must be noted and verified at upload. No more than 5 days of time off will be accepted (less is better). Time-off requests made after upload will not be approved.
• Scheduling requests must be made at submission. Requests made at or after the offer may lead to a rescinded offer.

Attendance Policy

• After 3 call-offs, a traveler's contract may be terminated for lack of attendance, at the facility's discretion.
• Each call-off must be communicated to the unit supervisor at least 1.5 hours in advance.

Eligibility and Logistics

• Local travelers who live within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible.
• The area has no public transportation. Travelers must have their own vehicle (firm requirement).
• Housing: not mentioned in the posting.

• All time-off requests must be included in the profile.
