Assignment Details

• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Schedule: 36 hours/week, 12-hour shifts, 0700-1900

Job Summary

The RN implements professional nursing practice centered on the patient as a whole person, creating a caring environment focused on healing and wellness. Practice is based on evidence, current research, hospital and department policies, regulatory standards, and professional guidelines. The RN coordinates and provides direct patient care on the unit, including nursing rounds, assessments, treatments, admission, transfer, and discharge activities, patient and family education, and care coordination and individualized treatment planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform and document comprehensive assessments, considering the patient's culture, age, and developmental level, and identify risk factors and presenting complaints.
• Develop a prioritized problem list and determine desired outcomes with the patient and family, in line with the medical plan of care.
• Implement patient care therapies and procedures, recognize and communicate changes in patient condition, and address stress and discomfort.
• Delegate tasks, oversee team members, and monitor the accuracy and completeness of delegated care.
• Facilitate timely discharges, including discharge teaching and coordination with Case Management.
• Provide input into patient and nurse assignments based on staffing, unit activity, and patient acuity.
• Participate in unit quality improvement activities and core measures, such as patient satisfaction, falls, pressure ulcers, CAUTIs, and documentation auditing.

Required Qualifications

• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Minimum of 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, with experience within the last year
