Job Description
- Specialty: Cardiac Device RN
- Type of Clinic: Outpatient Clinic and Peri-operative management for inpatient
- Average # of Providers in the Clinic/Day:
- 2 Electrophysiology (EP) Physicians
- 3 EP Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)
- Average # of Patients/Day: Workload varies; includes planned clinic visits, peri-operative management, remote monitoring, and device consults.
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Certified Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS)
Preferred Certifications
- Certified Electrophysiology Specialist (CEPS)
Patient Demographics
- Common Diagnoses/Types of Patients: Adults & Geriatrics
- Device Types: Boston Scientific, Medtronic, Abbott, Biotronik
Experience and Skills
- Must Have Skills:
- Certified Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS)
- Job Duties:
- Device management
- Post-operative wound checks
- Remote monitoring of devices
- Collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team
Work Environment
- EMR Systems: Cerner, Contado (Device Management System) - training provided
- Shifts & Scheduling:
- Clinic hours: Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM
- Staggered start times: 6:30 AM - 3 PM, 7 AM - 3:30 PM, 8:30 AM - 5 PM
- Permanent staff available for support
- Weekend Requirement: None
- Holiday Requirement: None
- Call or Standby Requirement: None
- Floating Requirements: Expected to cover both inpatient and outpatient settings; no travel to satellite locations required.
Dress Code
- Scrub Color: Royal Blue
Orientation
- Shifts for Orientation:
- 1-2 days of general orientation (including Cerner)
- 1-5 days with a preceptor, depending on competency
Additional Notes
- Located in a downtown center with device representatives available for support.
- Physicians and APPs are approachable and willing to teach.
